Three devices, three different arguments
These three are frequently listed together and are not really competitors. Each embodies a different view of what a child should be wearing.
Apple Watch SE is a full smartwatch, scaled for a child through Family Setup. The argument: give the child a capable device inside a controlled environment.
Fitbit Ace LTE is a kids-first connected watch with games, activity challenges and messaging. The argument: make movement fun and keep a communication line open.
Halo Lytt is a screen-free health band. The argument: the child should not be wearing an interface at all, and the parent should get the data.
Deciding between them is choosing which of those you agree with. Feature counts will not settle it.

Apple Watch SE
The most capable device here by a wide margin, and the most expensive to run.
Family Setup launched in the UAE in 2023 and lets a child use an Apple Watch without their own iPhone, with the parent managing contacts, Screen Time and location. Cellular service is required for the communication features and is available through Etisalat.
The honest constraint is battery. Apple quotes 18 hours of all-day battery, and 14 hours of daily usage under Family Setup. That is a charge every single day, without exception, on a device a child is meant to wear to school and to bed. In practice most families charge overnight, which means it is not measuring sleep.
Who it suits. Families already inside the Apple ecosystem who want maximum capability and are comfortable with a daily charge, a full screen and a carrier plan.
Fitbit Ace LTE
The most deliberately child-focused of the three. Built for ages 7 and up, it turns activity into games through Fitbit Arcade, and adds calling, messaging and location through the Ace Pass subscription at $9.99 per month or $120 per year.
Battery depends heavily on use. Fitbit quotes up to eight days, but reviewers note calls and games drain it fastest, with heavy use bringing it down dramatically. The published figure describes light use.
The design tension worth naming. The gamification that gets a reluctant child moving is the same mechanism that makes the watch something they look at. Whether that is a feature or a problem depends entirely on which of those you are trying to solve.
Who it suits. Parents of a 7+ child who needs motivation to be active, who want a communication line, and who accept a subscription.
Halo Lytt
The only device here with no screen, and the only one that costs nothing after purchase.
Halo Lytt is a 22 gram screen-free health band for ages 6 and up, built by two engineer parents, Unmesh Shah and Nikhil Nagraj. It runs 30 or more days per charge, is waterproof to 50 metres, and is CE, FCC and RoHS certified. It tracks sleep, recovery, stress, activity, heart rate, breathing and skin temperature, showing every child in a family in one parent app that works across separate phones. Data sits on servers in Ireland under EU data protection law, encrypted in transit and at rest, never sold to advertisers. AED 699 in the UAE, free delivery, 14 day returns, no subscription.
What it does not do, plainly. No screen, no camera, no calling, no messaging, no games, no SIM, and no GPS or location tracking. If knowing where your child is drives the purchase, Halo Lytt cannot do it and one of the other two is your answer.
Who it suits. Families whose child is supervised or at school all day, who are actively reducing screen exposure, and who want sleep and recovery insight rather than movement tracking.

Which should you buy?
Buy the Apple Watch SE if you are an Apple household, want the most capable device, and will genuinely charge it daily.
Buy the Fitbit Ace LTE if your child is 7 or older, needs encouragement to move, and you want messaging without a full smartphone.
Buy Halo Lytt if your child is supervised during the day, you are trying to reduce screens rather than add one, and you care about sleep. It is also the only one of the three that measures sleep reliably, for an unglamorous reason: it is the only one still on the wrist at 2am rather than on a charger.
If you need location, do not buy Halo Lytt. That is not a caveat buried in a spec sheet, it is the central trade the product makes.
The pattern underneath the specs
Battery life is the tell. Eighteen hours, eight days and thirty days are not three points on a quality scale, they are three different products. Screens and cellular radios consume power, so a device's runtime tells you what it spends its energy doing, which tells you what it is for.
Work out what you need first. The specifications then sort themselves.
