Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 01 April 2026

Introduction

At Halo Technologies FZC LLC ("Halo Technologies", "we", "us", or "our"), your family's privacy is our highest priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use the Halo Lytt wearable device, the Halo Connect mobile application, and our website (collectively, the "Services").

Because our product is designed for families and children, we have built our data practices around strict consent, transparency, and localised data residency within the United Arab Emirates.

Children's privacy and parental consent

The Halo Lytt device is intended to be worn by children (referred to in our app as "Explorers"), but the Services must be purchased, set up, and managed by an adult parent or legal guardian (referred to as a "Captain").

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 18 without verifiable parental consent. As a Captain, when you create an Explorer profile and pair a Halo Lytt device, you are providing explicit, digitally logged consent for us to collect and process your child's health and biometric data as described in this Policy.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without verifiable consent of a parent or guardian, we will take immediate steps to delete that information.

Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways to provide and improve our Services:

  • Account Information: When a Captain registers, we collect an email address, password, and name. If you register using a third-party login (Apple, Google, Facebook), we receive your basic profile information from that provider.
  • Explorer Profiles: To set up a child's profile, the Captain provides basic identifiers (such as nickname, age, or gender) used to accurately calculate health scores.
  • Biometric & Health Data: When worn, the Halo Lytt device continuously collects vital metrics: Heart Rate (HR), Blood Oxygen (SpO₂), Skin Temperature, Heart Rate Variability (HRV), and Steps.
  • Activity & Location Data: When an Explorer engages in a recorded activity (like a walk or workout), the Halo Connect app may use the smartphone's GPS to map the route. The device itself does not track GPS continuously.
  • E-commerce Data: When you purchase a device on our website, we collect shipping addresses, billing details, and contact information. Payment processing is handled by Shopify's secure standard payment gateways; we do not store your full credit card numbers.

How we use your information

We use the collected data strictly to deliver and improve the Halo Lytt experience. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Process biometric data through our proprietary Halo algorithm to generate Sleep, Stress, and Activity scores.
  • Trigger real-time push notifications to the Captain's app if vital thresholds are crossed.
  • Facilitate "Ghost Mode" requests and manage the family graph (Captains, Admins, Viewers).
  • Provide customer support, process orders, and handle warranty claims.
  • Maintain the security, stability, and performance of our hardware and cloud infrastructure.

Data retention and residency

We are committed to data minimisation and compliance. All user data, including sensitive health vitals, is securely hosted within AWS Secure Cloud Infrastructure (Region: eu-west-1) in Ireland.

60-Day Retention Policy: Active historical biometric data is stored for a rolling period of 60 days to allow you to view trends and calculate percentiles. Data older than 60 days is automatically archived or aggregated into anonymous statistics, removing identifiable personal metrics from active databases.

Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal data or your child's health data to data brokers, advertisers, or third-party marketers.

We only share information under the following limited circumstances:

  • Within Your Family Graph: Data is shared with users you explicitly authorise within the Halo Connect app (e.g. an Admin or Viewer you invite).
  • Service Providers: We share data with trusted vendors who perform services on our behalf (AWS for cloud hosting, Shopify for payment processing, courier partners for shipping). These providers are legally bound to protect your data.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by UAE law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the safety and rights of Halo Technologies or the public.

Your rights and controls

As the Captain of the account, you have full control over your family's data:

  • Access and Edit: View, edit, or delete Explorer profiles directly within the Halo Connect app.
  • Device Unpairing & Wiping: Remotely factory-reset the Halo Lytt device via the app, which clears any offline cached data on the band.
  • Account Deletion: Request the complete deletion of your account and all associated health data by contacting our support team at hello@halo-wear.com. Because of the sensitive nature of the data, this is a manual process. Upon verification, our team will permanently erase your records from our active servers.

Data security

We implement robust technical and organisational measures to protect your data. This includes encrypting data in transit (via BLE to your phone, and via TLS to our servers) and at rest. We also use automated infrastructure testing and explicit role-based access control within the app to prevent unauthorised viewing of health data.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our Services evolve. If we make material changes — especially regarding how we handle children's biometric data — we will notify you via the email address associated with your Captain account or through an in-app alert prior to the changes taking effect.
