Parental Notice
Parental Notice
Effective date: 01 April 2026
A message to our Captains
Hello Captain — we created Halo Lytt because we believe parents should be able to monitor their children's health and safety without exposing them to screens and digital distractions.
Because the Halo Lytt is worn by your child (an "Explorer"), we need your explicit permission before we can collect any of their vital health data. This notice explains exactly what happens when you set up their band.
The short version: You are in complete control. We collect 6 key vitals to calculate health scores and trigger safety alerts. We store this data securely on AWS servers (Ireland) for 60 days, and we never sell it. You can delete your Explorer's profile at any time directly from the Halo Connect app.
From our family to yours — The Halo Founders
Section 1
Purpose of this Notice
This Direct Notice to Parents ("Notice") is provided by Halo Technologies FZC LLC to inform parents and legal guardians of our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal and biometric information from children under the age of 18 residing in the United Arab Emirates.
This Notice must be reviewed and consented to before a minor can be authorised to use the Halo Lytt hardware device or have an Explorer profile created within the Halo Connect app.
Section 2
The Consent and Onboarding Process
To ensure that only an adult can authorise the collection of a child's health data, we enforce a strict age-verification and consent workflow during app onboarding:
- Age Verification: Users must provide their age. Users aged 18 and older can become a "Captain" (account owner/administrator).
- Minor Registration Trigger: If a user under 18 attempts to create a primary account, setup halts and they are prompted for a parent or guardian email address.
- Parental Email Verification: An automated email is sent to the guardian containing this Notice, the Privacy Policy, and a digital consent agreement.
- Hardware Linking Lock: The Halo Connect app prevents Bluetooth pairing of a Halo Lytt band until the parent has explicitly accepted the consent agreement.
Section 3
Data we collect from the Explorer
Once a Captain has provided consent and linked a Halo Lytt device to an Explorer profile, the hardware automatically begins tracking:
- Biometric Vitals: Heart Rate (HR), Blood Oxygen (SpO₂), Skin Temperature, and Heart Rate Variability (HRV).
- Physical Activity: Steps taken and general movement data.
This data is buffered on the device, synced to the Halo Connect app via Bluetooth, and securely transmitted to our active servers (AWS eu-west-1 region) in Ireland.
Section 4
How we use the Explorer's data
The collected vitals and activity data are used exclusively to power the core Halo Lytt experience:
- Calculating proprietary daily scores for Sleep, Stress, and Activity displayed on the Captain's app dashboard.
- Triggering automated push notifications to the Captain when vital thresholds are exceeded.
- Providing historical trend charts based on our 60-day data retention policy.
We do not use this data to market products to your child, and we never sell biometric information to any third party.
Section 5
Parental rights and controls
As the consenting Captain, you retain full administrative rights over data collected from your Explorer. You have the right to:
- Review your child's collected health and activity data at any time via the Halo Connect app.
- Revoke your consent for future data collection by remotely unpairing the Halo Lytt device through app settings, which stops all biometric tracking.
- Request the permanent deletion of your child's data by contacting us directly (as outlined in our Privacy Policy).
